The court of Larissa in central Greece, was sentenced to four years in prison veteran Italian anarchism, Alfredo Bonano, 73 years for his involvement in a robbery bank in 2009 in the nearby town of Trikala. The convicted appealed and was released, said the Greek press agency Ana. His accomplice Greek Christos Stratigopoulos, 47, a repeat offender, he has been sentenced to 8 years in prison.
Considered as a theorist of anarchism insurgency, Mr. Bonano, a former academic, was arrested in October 2009 in a hotel in Kalambaka at the foot of the site of Meteora, while awaiting the return of his accomplice. Alerted by a passerby who had seen him emerge from the bank of Trikala and noted the registration number of his vehicle, police came to arrest him at a roadblock in possession of the booty, 47,000 euros, and the robbery weapon.
The duo has already served prison terms in Italy in the late 90s for a series of bank robberies.
